Realismo ontológico: breves reflexiones sobre epistemología y educación

El trabajo plantea la necesidad de volver a pensar en la epistemología de la investigación, ofreciendo un mapa en el que se desarrollan distintos planos de análisis: dos planos de ontología, y los restantes relacionados con la epistemología, la metodología, y lo técnico/instrumental. Los planos relacionados con la ontología tratan respectivamente de los supuestos sobre la naturaleza del mundo (social y natural) y sobre el peso –ontológico- de nuestras teorías y conjeturas fundamentadas. El plano epistemológico se centra en los criterios de verdad, el metodológico en la implementación de las estrategias de investigación y el técnico/instrumental en la práctica concreta de indagación. A continuación, el trabajo expone y analiza críticamente las implicaciones del realismo ontológico de Bhaskar para la investigación educativa. El trabajo plantea dos cuestiones importantes: primero, la importancia de asumir el realismo ontológico en la investigación educativa, para evitar caer en el relativismo postmoderno; segundo, que la aceptación del realismo ontológico (plano O₁) no determina de modo absoluto las posiciones que se vayan a adoptar en el plano O₂.

Abstract

The paper try to show the necessity to come back to the epistemological thought in the educational research, offering a map through different levels: two related with the ontology, and the rest related with the epistemology, the methodology and the technic/instruments. The flats associated with the ontology are about the conceptions about the nature of being (natural or social) and the ontological weight of our theories and fundamental assumptions. The epistemological flat focus on the credibility criteria and the trustworthiness, the methodological on the method of research, and the last one on the practice of data gathering. The paper analyze critically the implications of the Bhaskar´ s ontological realism for the educational research. The paper point out two important questions: first, the implications to assume the ontological realism in the educational research, for avoiding the postmodern relativism; second, the acceptation of the ontological realism (O₁) do not prescribe in a absolutely mode the options that we can take and adopt in the O₂ flat.
