ESPACIOS EDUCATIVO-CULTURALES EN LA CÁRCEL DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA DE SUS PROTAGONISTAS. EL CASO DE LA UNIDAD N°6 PUNTA DE RIELES

El presente artículo es producto de una experiencia de intercambio y escritura colectiva emprendida por docentes del Programa Integral Metropolitano de la Universidad de la República y personas privadas de libertad de la Unidad Nº6 Punta de Rieles. Su objetivo es contribuir a la generación de conocimiento en torno a los sentidos y especificidades de la educación en prisión desde la perspectiva de sus participantes. Entre los principales emergentes de las instancias de discusión destacan la importancia que adquiere la educación en estos espacios como una nueva forma de transitar el encierro y la necesidad de mejorar las propuestas, las instalaciones físicas y los recursos humanos encargados de materializarlas. Esto debería ir acompañado por una concepción de lo educativo que trascienda lo punitivo y que ponga su énfasis en la creación y consolidación de espacios en donde lo que prime sea el factor humano.

Abstract
The article is the product of an experience of exchange and collaborative writing undertaken by teachers of the Programa Integral Metropolitano in the Universidad de la República and persons deprived of liberty in the Unit N°6 of Punta de Rieles. Its objective is to contribute at the generation of knowledge about the aims and the specificities of the education in prisons from the perspective of their participants. The highlights of the discussion sessions were the importance of the education in these spaces as a new to live the deprivation of liberty and the necessity to improve the proposals, the materials and human resources which are in charge of them. This should be accompanied with a conception of education that transcends the punitive and emphasises the creation and consolidation of spaces in which the human factor becomes the most important thing.
